Anders Almstrom was born June 4, 1849 in Skivarp, the son of Marten Andersson and Ingar Olsdotter. He originally went by the name of Anders Martensson, then, while in the military he used the name Anders Sand, before finally assuming the name of Almstrom. He married his wife, Ingrid Persson, on December 19, 1877. She was the daughter of Pehr Olsson and Anna Olsdotter, and was born February 14, 1850, also in Skivarp.
