Beekeeping
The Eckberg farm had several beehives. There is no evidence that it was a money producing venture; more likely the honey which was produced was used by the family. Above is Art Eckberg, who apparently was most interested beekeeing, collecting a swarm of bees.
Again we see Art working on the bee swarm on a fencepost, trying to get them into the beehouse seen behind the post.
This is Art again, with a swarm of bees on a tree branch. He's taking the bees to his beehouses. Art developed a lifelong interest in beekeeping and sold honey commercially from his own farm as an adult.
The bee swarm was successfully transferred to the beehouse; the swarm can be seen around the bottom of the box, or beehouse, in the center.
