The corn crop
The Eckberg family used several sources of power on the farm. Here, Art Eckberg rides the family's cross-engine or "crosswise Case" tractor toward the fields. The family also used horses for much of the farming work.
Here Olof Eckberg is using a horse-drawn gang plow to turn the soil in the spring, in preparation for planting.
Some of the younger members of the family are using an older tractor to disc the field, breaking up the dirt for planting. Olof paid $35.00 for his disc harrow in about 1921.
