Mr. L. A. Eckberg was pleasantly surprised at a birthday party in his honor Sunday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Olof Eckberg and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bodelson and family of Ohio, Arthur Eckberg of Manlius, Lars Eckberg of Winner, S. Dakota and Jennie Ruth Lindner of Tiskilwa.

LAWRENCE O. ECKBERG, SCHOOL CUSTODIAN DIES
Lawrence O. Eckberg, 64, of Red Oak Road, Walnut, was pronounced dead on arrival at Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton, early Thursday morning where he had been taken by the Walnut Rescue Squad.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 10, at the Ross Funeral Home, with the Rev. Orville Cole of Lanark officiating.
Organist was Mrs. John Foss.
Casket attendants were Stanley Jensen, Willliam Eckberg, Glen Hobbs, Marlow Drayton, Archie Carter, and Harry Chenneour.
Interment was in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton.
A memorial has been established for the Walnut Grade School.
Lawrence Oscar Albin Eckberg was born Sept. 22, 1909 in Fairfield Township, the son of Ida and Olaf Eckberg. He married Letha Peck of Bureau township on June 2, 1935, in the Swedish Lutheran Church of Princeton.
He had owned and operated the cement block plant in Wyanet, was a distributor for Wynn Oil Co., and operated the Mobil and DX stations in Walnut for 10 years. For the past ten years he had been custodian at the Walnut grade school. He was an enthusiastic and active member of the Walnut and Rock River Horseshoe Leagues. He was a member of the Swedish Lutheran Church of Princeton.
Surviving are his widow, Letha; two sons, Darell of Walnut and Donald of Rome; one daughter, Ann; two granddaughters, eight brothers, Everett of Princeton, Lester, Kenneth and Leroy of Wyanet, Orville of San Antonio, Texas, and Arthur, Harold and Edmund, of Walnut; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Alma) Bodelson of Princeton and Mrs. Vivan (Anna) Richmond of Wyanet; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

ECKBERG MEMORIAL PRESENTED
Mrs. Lawrence Eckberg has presented a dual cartridge-film projector, purchased with the Lawrence Eckberg Memorial Funds to the Grade School. Receiving the projector on behalf of the school are: Dale Von Holton, student council president; and Mr. Glen Littlefield, adviser.

Wyanet -- Arthur Folke Bodelson, 74, of 313 S. King St., died Sunday, Nov. 16, in Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton.
He was born Sept. 3, 1906 in Smoland , Sweden, the son of Ola and Clara Bodelson. He came to the United States in 1925, and farmed in the Bureau County area most of his life.
He married Alma Eckberg on Aug. 15, 1932 in Kasbeer. She survives, with four daughters, Mrs. John (Clara) Atkinson Jr., Mrs. Harry (Marie) May, both of Princeton, Mrs. Milton (Lucille) Warfield of Malta and Mrs. Philip (Ellen) Gerbitz of New Bedford; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters in Sweden, Alva and Ninni, as well as nieces and nephews, also in Sweden.
He was preceded in death, in addition ot (sic) his parents, by six brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m. in Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton, with the Rev. Warren Mueller officiating.
Interment will be in the Elmlawn Memorial Park, Princeton.
Visitation is at the memorial home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18.

Mr. and Mrs. Olof Eckberg have announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Anna to Vivan Richmond, of Wyanet, of (sic) Saturday, October 7. at Havana, Illinois., by the Rev. Ralph Cummins, of the First Baptist Church, reading the single ring ceremony.
The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olof Eckberg, and was attired in a gown of flowered blue flat crepe, with accessories to match. She is a graduate of the Bureau Township High School, class of 1932. She was attended by Miss Mildred Klockenga of Pekin, who wore grey with black accessories.
Mr. Richmond is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Richmond of Wyanet, and graduated from the Wyanet High School class of 1927. He was attended by Frank Johnson of Thomas. They will reside with his parents until March.
On Thursday afternoon Mrs. Olof Eckberg and Mrs. Arthur Bodleson (sic) entertained 30 relatives and friends at a miscellaneous shower in honor of Mrs. Anna Richmond.
Games were played under the leadership of Miss Dorothy Crossett of Wyanet and Miss Mildred Klockenga of Pekin. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses The bride received many beautiful and useful gifts.

Mrs. Vivan Richmond was pleasantly surprised Sunday at noon, when twenty-five relatives and friends gathered at her home to help celebrate her birthday. A lovely dinner was enjoyed by all. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bodelson and daughter, of Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Eckberg and son, of Walnut, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Eckberg and son, Mrs. Ada Peck and son, Mr. and Mrs. Olof Eckberg and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wyatt and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carter and son, and Hansford Thompson, all of Wyanet.

RICHMONDS TO NOTE 50 YEARS OF MARRIAGE
Mr. and Mrs. Vivan Richmond of Wyanet will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Oct. 7.
The couple will be honored Saturday, Oct. 8, with a family dinner at the Marlow Drayton home. The celebration will be hosted by their two daughters and Mrs. Jerry Hochstatter.
Vivan Richmond and the former Anna Eckberg were married Oct. 7, 1933 by the Rev. Ralph Cummins in Havana. Their attendants were Mildred Klockenga of Pekin and the late Frank L. Johnson of Thomas.
They are the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Marlow (Wanda) Drayton of Walnut and Mrs. Bernice Pettit of Canton. A son, Delmar, is deceased. They also have three grandchildren, Tom and Dan Pettit and Ann Drayton.
Mr. Richmond was employed by Bureau County Highways and later by GBH Way Homes of Walnut, until his retirement. Mrs. Richmond was an interior decorator for 19 years and later worked as a clerk at Mulvane's Wallpaper Store in Princeton, until her retirement.
Although there are no plans for an open house, the couple would treasure good wishes of friends and relatives through cards and letters on their special day.

ANN H. RICHMOND, 85, PASSES AWAY ON APRIL 28 AT WALNUT MANOR NURSING HOME
Ann H. Richmond, 85, of 202 W. Fourth Street, Wyanet, died at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Walnut Manor Nursing Home in Walnut.
Born August 18, 1913, in Greenville Township, Bureau County, to Olaf and Ida (Almstrom) Eckberg, she married Vivian (sic) Richmond October 7, 1933 in Havana. He died in November 1985.
She graduated from Bureau Township High School. She was an interior decorator for many years and then worked for Mullvanes Wallpaper and Paint Store.
She was a 50-year member of the Women of the Moose.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Drayton of Walnut, Bernice Pettit of Canton; two brothers, Lester Eckberg of Wyanet, Harold Eckberg of Walnut; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by by one son, Delmer, seven brothers and one sister.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jensen Funeral Home, Princeton, the Rev. Richard Hundreiser officiating. Burial was in Forrest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
