Note for:   Conrad Hucke,   22 MAR 1820 - ABT 1878
From the "History of Muscatine County Iowa"-1911. Pg.236-Among the large
landowners of Moscow Township is H. C.Hucke, who has spent nearly his entire
life in this county and is known as one of its most energetic and capable
citizens. He was born in Germany, January 19, 1856, and is the son of Conrad
and Catherine (Glover) Hucke, both of whom were natives of Germany. The parents
came to America in 1857, Mr. Hucke establishing a home in Moscow Twp....where
he continued until his death which occurred in 1878. The mother was called
away in 1889. There were nine children.... After the death of his father he
married and purchased the old homestead, which comprised 400 acres on section
28, Moscow Twp.
The church records of Rhunda are in Harle, a nearby town. They are very
difficult to read but they do list Conrad Hucke's birth as being 22 Mar 1820.
His parent's marriage is not in the marriage book of Rhunda. It is very
possible that they were married in the nearby town of Lendorf where there are
many, many Huckes.
