Cool the milk to lukewarm, add the sugar and yeast, flour and beat to a smooth sponge. Cover and let stand until double in bulk. Heat 2 cups milk to scalding, add 1 cup butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp. salt; cool to lukewarm, add to sponge also 3 beaten eggs; add flour until stiff. Turn out on floured board and roll one inch thick; sprinkle with butter, sugar and cinnamon, roll like a jelly roll, make this into a ring then cut points with scissors, put each one back as you cut them. Now let rise then bake ½ hour in moderate oven. When baked, brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
