Grandma Eckberg's Recipes
Split Pea Soup
1. In a large pot with lid, place a hambone or ham hocks (1-2 lbs.)
2. Cover with water and boil until tender (about 2 hrs.).
3. Let cool. Then skim off top. Dispose of skimmings.
4. Add ½ package of washed split peas, two potoatoes, 2 carrots, 1 medium sized onion, all chopped, ½ tsp. salt and ¼ tsp. pepper.
5. Gently cook until peas have entirely disintegrated and vegetables are tender.
