Pickled String Beans
String a pan of beans, but in a kettle of water with salt enough to season. Boil until tender enough to pierce with a broom splinter. Put in glass cans. While beans are cooking, boil 3 cups vinegar, 1 cup water, 2 cups sugar and 1 tablespoon mixed spices. Pour over beans boiling hot and seal cans.
