Grandma Eckberg's Recipes

Sandwich Spread

3 red and 3 green peppers
½ qt. green cucumbers
3 to 4 qts. small green tomatoes
½ qt. carrots
6 medium onions
  Grind through food chopper and add 1 cup salt. Stir well and let stand over night. In the morning put in a bag and squeeze out all of the juice.
  Filling
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
3 cups vinegar
2 cups cream or more
1 heaping tbsp dry mustard
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp pepper
2 eggs well beaten
  Water to make dressing about as thick as gravy. Boil thoroughly, then stir into pulp. Cook together and seal.
