Wanda Ann Richmond

Wanda was the third and last of three children born to Vivan and Anna Richmond. She was born May 7, 1942 and grew up in Wyanet, Illinois. She graduated from Wyanet High School in 1960 and continued her education at Southern Illinois University, receiving a Bachelor's degree in education in 1965.

After completing her education she taught grade school in Tampico, Freeport and Lanark from 1965 until 1969. On July 14, 1969 she was married to Marlow A. Drayton. Wanda subsequently taught in the Wyanet schools until 1971 when their daughter Ann Marian Drayton was born on November 18, 1971.

Wanda returned to teaching in the Walnut, Illinois grade schools in 1979 and worked there until her retirement in 2000. She and Marlow still live in the Walnut area and own forty acres of land west of town, in the home they moved to just before their daughter was born. Wanda and Marlow have worked on the home over the years and have added on to it three times since moving in!

Wanda's hobbies and interests include cooking, reading and quilting. She is an active member of the United Methodist Church in Walnut, Illinois.
